Jurmoloya Rava Namma Metro, one of the major developments in the city rolled of its second service. The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (BMRCL) announced the completion of reach 3 and 3A from the Mantri Square Sampige Road till Peenya Industry. The gala flag off ceremony was held on February 28 at Rajajinagar station around 9 pm. The green line distance is about 10 km with 10 elevated stations. The line starting from Sampige road traverses through the dense areas of north-west Bangalore with stations Mantri Square Sampiage Road, Srirampura, Kuvempu Road, Rajajinagar, Mahalakshmi, Sandal Soap Factory, Yeshwanthpura, Yeshwanthpura Industry, Peenya and Peenya Industry. The service is being launched despite the fact that of the 10 stations, only four are fully ready to handle operations. BMRCL is busy giving finishing touches to the other six. The total project of Green line is estimated at Rs. 2,100 crore. Expressing his happiness, Dr CN Ashwath Narayan Malleshwaram MLA said, “It is the best thing that has happened to Mallesh- waram, it is like a lifeline to the west of Malleshwaram. It is a very big development and hope the transportation quality will improve.” TL Ravi Prakash, PR Manager (BMRCL) spoke to Cityplus and said, “BMRCL is glad to inaugurate the much awaited Green Line. I hope people will use the metro service and reduce the road traffic." How advance is the Metro? Namma Metro is fully air-conditioned with modern coaches and have 136 seating capacity and it can accommodate 975 passengers. Safe access to children and person with disabilities, they have automatic train operation (ATO) system and Automatic Train Protection (ATP) system. They have fire retardant vinyl flooring with complete mobile phone coverage across every station. BMRCL have looked upon its safety and have security staff around the clock and have CCTV system and there are Metro stations and Operating Control Center (OCC) for reliable communication and there is also Emergency Call Box in each platform of the stations and in the trains.
